Allan is currently a Professor in Manufacturing Engineering at Lancaster University, and Director of the Lancaster Product Development Unit which he established in 2002. He has been an active researcher in additive manufacturing since 1995, which includes nearly seven years in the additive manufacturing industry with CRDM Ltd. Allan’s research interests are widespread within this technology domain, but with a particular bias towards industrial uptake and utilisation, supported since 2002 with c.£20M+ of research and enterprise funding from a range of UK and international sources. He holds Editorial posts with the Rapid Prototyping Journal (Emerald) and the International Journal of Rapid Manufacturing (Inderscience). Allan is Co-Investigator for the EPSRC Design for Additive Manufacturing Network.
